Ceremony marks symbolic transfer of responsibility for the next World Expo to Saudi Arabia.
The flag of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) was formally handed over from the organizers of Expo 2025 Osaka to the Expo 2030 Riyadh Committee during a ceremony held on Sunday.
According to Arab News, the event marked the symbolic start of preparations for the Saudi-hosted global exhibition, scheduled to open in Riyadh in 2030.
Saudi officials attending the ceremony reaffirmed the Kingdom’s readiness to deliver an Expo reflecting the country’s development vision and its commitment to sustainability, innovation and cultural exchange.
The Riyadh Expo 2030 project is expected to attract millions of international visitors and showcase advances in technology, energy, environment and education, in line with the national transformation goals under Vision 2030.
The official Expo 2030 Riyadh theme, “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” emphasizes collaboration to address global challenges.
Work on site development and international participation frameworks is already under way.
